Research question
How prepared are Thai hospitals to mobilize resources and partners for evacuation?
Method and context
Mixed-method cross-sectional survey, December 2021–April 2022; 43 of 143 hospitals responded with attached contingency plans.
Study summary
Assesses staff, equipment, space, systems and collaboration through a translated, validated questionnaire.
Findings
Respondents reported command systems but gaps in evacuation triage, supplemental surge planning and joint interorganizational exercises.
Contribution
Connects hospital evacuation planning with community resource capabilities requiring verification.
Interpretation limits
Authors note low response, selection and pandemic-era recall bias; survey findings do not demonstrate operational readiness.
A question for further research
Our question: can joint exercises verify vulnerable-patient transport and resource agreements?
A starting point for a study design: extend the literature search, specify methods and outcomes, and assess ethics requirements for the data and participants.
Connect evidence to KSEC / OBE
Project-proposed critical-appraisal evidence, not research findings or accreditation criteria from the original authors.
- K
- Explain the question, concepts and findings with locators in the original.
- S
- Compare methods, variables and limitations with another study before designing a test or CPX.
- E
- Separate reported results from your proposals, cite originals and examine implications for vulnerable groups.
- C
- Record responses to critique and revisions after new evidence. Observe behaviour repeatedly, not from a single reading.
